titleOfInvention | Production of unsaturated polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an unsaturated low viscosity, low cost and non-fuming polyester by carrying out the reaction of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and dibromonepentyl glycol-containing polyol in the presence of an arylsulfonic acid s a catalyst and an acid eliminator. n CONSTITUTION: This polyester is obtained by carrying out the reaction of (A) an unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride) and (B) polyol containing dibromoneopentyl glycol in an amount to make the bromine content in polyester 35 wt.% or less, in the presence of (C) 0.005-3 wt.% of a catalyst consisting of an arylsulfonic acid (ester) (e.g. p-tolueneslulfonic acid) and (D) an acid eliminator consisting of an oxirane compound (e.g. epichlorohydrin) in sufficient quantity to neutralize the component C, in an inactive atmosphere, at 100-200°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
