titleOfInvention New schiff base compound and production thereof
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (Ar is aromatic group; n is 0 or 1). EXAMPLE:Optically active p-(p'-N,N-diethylaminobenzylidenamino)benzoic acid (N'-2-phenylethyl)amide. USE:A high-performance nonlinear optical material. Useful for electro-optical device, secondary higher harmonic generating device, piezoelectric device, optical wave guide, optical memory light source, light source of laser printer, optical switch, etc. PREPARATION:p-Aminobenzoic acid (N'-2-phenylethyl)amide shown by formula II is condensed with an aldehyde shown by the formula Ar-(CH=CH)n-CHO in an anhydrous solvent (e.g. anhydrous alcohol) optionally using a catalyst (e.g. acetic acid) at room temperature to give a compound shown by formula I.
