titleOfInvention | Thermotropic, wholly aromatic polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title compd. useful for molding an org. structural material with excellent rigidity, heat resistance and dimensional stability by reacting p-acetoxybenzoic acid, 6-acetoxy-2-naphthoic acid, an arom. dicarboxylic acid and an acetate of an arom. dihydroxy compd., thereby providing a specified molecular structure and physical properties. n CONSTITUTION: The title polyester substantially consisting of structural units of formula I-IV (wherein R 1-4 and R' 1-4 are each H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , a halogen or phenyl; p and q are each 0 or 1; 98≥k+l≥40; lm-nl≤0.5), having melt- anisotropy and an intrinsic viscosity of 3.0-6.0dl/g, exhibiting a melt viscosity ηof formula VI at a temp. T of formula V and a shear rate of 600/sec when the melt viscosity is η* (poise) at Tm (m.p. of the polymer) +15(°C) and a shear rate of 600/sec and an increase in η of 10 4-6 poise/10°C with a decreasing temp. at a temp. T of formula VII is obtd. by reacting p-acetoxybenzoic acid, 6- acetoxy-2-naphthoic acid, an arom. dicarboxylic acid (e.g. terephthalic acid) and an acetate of an arom. dihydroxy compd. (e.g. chlorohydroquinone diacetate). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
