NEW MATERIAL: A compound of the formula [R<1> is H and R<2> is methylamino (MM47767) or R<1> is methylamino and R<2> is H (MM55256); one of R<3> to R<5> is saccharide mannose and the other two are H]. MM47766 and MM55260 are obtained by culturing a bacterium belonging to the genus Amycolatopsis, and shows antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus V573. MM47766 has 1969±2 apparent molecular weight (A) by fast atom bombardment mass spectroscopy and has 46 minutes retention time (B) in high-performance liquid chromatography using C18μ Bondapak column packing, and MM55260 has 1807±1 apparent molecular weight (A) and has 33 minutes retention time (B). USE: An antibacterial agent. PROCESS: A bacterium belonging to the genus Amycolatopsis such as Amycolatopsis orientalis NCIB 40011 is cultured and NM47766, etc., are isolated from the culture product. |
