abstract PURPOSE: To provide a chewing gum containing 4-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-α-D- fructose as a non-calorific sweetener, effective in preventing constipation, prolifer ating enteric bifidus bacteria and free from the problems of obesity and dental caries. n CONSTITUTION: The objective chewing gum contains 4-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-α- D-fructose as a non-calorific sweetener.
