titleOfInvention Wavelength-specific cytotoxic agent
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a light absorbing compound capable of showing sufficient effects of cytotoxicity transmitted by light and diagnosing effects with a small amount used and reducing hypersensitivity of a tissue to be targeted, comprising a hydromonobenzoporphyrin having the maximum light absorption in a specific wavelength range. n CONSTITUTION: An effective amount of any of compounds of formula I to formula VI [R 1 and R 2 are each a carboalkoxy, an alkylsulfonyl, an arylsulfonyl, CN, etc.; R 3 is a carboxyalkyl, an alkyl, etc.; R 4 is CHCH 2 , CHOR 4 ', CHO, OCOOR 4 ' (R 4 ' is H or an alkyl), etc., a ≤12C organic group derived from vinyl or a substituent group containing 1-3 tetrapyrrole type nuclei] having light absorption maximum in the range of 670-780nm is brought into contact with a target. The target is irradiated with light rays having 670-780nm wavelength, the function of the target organism is detected, sensitized with light and destroyed or inhibited. A compound of formula III and a compound of formula IV are preferable as the compound. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
