abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to quickly measure the concentration of body fluid component, by composing a basic probe arrangement from a single probe, a multi probe or a micro probe which is composed of 6 basic elements. n CONSTITUTION: The basic arrangement of this electrochemical sensor is composed of a single probe, a multi probe or a micro probe. A reference electrode which composes the probe arrangement gives reference electrode potential and at the same time shields the measurement electrode from a static electric field and a magnetic field and a temperature compensator is a measure to heighten measurement accuracy when the calibration temperature and the material temperature are different. The shielding is made by a metal or plastic conductor enclosing the measurement electrode and a data acquisition system is assembled in the sensor. The reference battery has immobilized solution covered by a sealant and the immobilized solution is selected from inorganic, organic and polymer macromolecule gel and bridging polymer. The measurement electrode is composed of a glass film, an ion selective fixing film or an organic film and causes a secondary reaction to produce or consume chemical species making to impregnate oxygen, hormone or an antibiotic into a film and measures the reaction by the electrochemical sensor. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
