abstract PURPOSE:To simultaneously form a magnetic latent image and electrostatic latent image of a high contrast and to form the sharp images which are free from color mixing and fogging by successively forming a magnetic recording layer consisting of conductive magnetic iron carbide and a photoconductive layer on a conductive base. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording layer and the photoconductive layer are successively formed on the conductive base and the conductive magnetic iron carbide is used as the magnetic material forming the magnetic recording layer. The conductive magnetic iron carbide to be used has a high electrical conductivity and high magnetization power and is the fine particles having the average grain size in millimicron order of <=1mum and, therefore, the even and uniform magnetic recording layer can be formed by merely dispersing the fine particles thereof into, for example, a resin medium thereby dispersing the fine particles to a high density. The magnetic recording characteristic and electrical conductivity are thus extremely improved. The magnetic latent image and the electrostatic latent image are respectively formed with the high contrast and the resulted images are free from the color mixing and have the high resolution.
