abstract PURPOSE: To impart a gentle amber musk type scent of wood or balsam by adding (hexahydrotetramethylindenyl)acetic ethyl ester to a perfume composition and a perfume added product. n CONSTITUTION: 2-[2,3,4,5,6,7,-Hexahydro-1,1,4,4-tetramethyl-2(1H)-indenyl]-acetic ethyl ester is added, for example, in a concentration of about 0.1-30wt.% according to various applications. The above compound is obtained by treating isolongifolene as raw material with hydrobromic acid or hydroiodic acid followed by esterification.
