titleOfInvention Production of optically active 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the subject butyric acid derivative useful as a raw material for hypotensor in high efficiency at a low cost by treating a racemic phenylbutyric acid with cultured product, cell or treated cell of a specific microorganism. n CONSTITUTION: Racemic 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid is treated with the cultured product, cell or treated cell of one or more kinds of microorganisms capable of converting racemic 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid into an optically active 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyric acid and belonging to genus Corynebacterium, Brevibacterium or Arthrobacter (e.g., Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 13032) and the objective phenylbutyric acid derivative produced and accumulated in the culture product is separated therefrom. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
