NEW MATERIAL: Compounds shown by formula I (A is derived from a nonionic surfactant, the compound bonded to a metal is soluble in high molecular weight nonpolar oil or polar lubricant; B is an organic carboxylic acid group; X bonds A to B and has at least two carbon atoms). n EXAMPLE: A compound obtained by reacting a compound obtained from ethylene oxide and tridecanol with succinic acid. n USE: Lubricating oil, additive for metal corrosion preventing oil, dispersant for magnetic particles in magnetic liquid. n PROCESS: For example, the product of the reaction of tridecyl alcohol with 6 mole of ethylene oxide is reacted with succinic acid to obtain a compound of formula II (R is 13C linear alkyl, n is 6 on average), which is one of the compounds of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
