titleOfInvention Halogenated trisphenyl derivative and flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The halogenated trisphenyl derivative of formula I (R 1 -R 3 are allyl, methallyl or 1-4C halogenated alkyl; X is halogen). n EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II. n USE: An additive-type flame retardant for a thermoplastic resin, especially styrene resin or polyolefin resin, particularly for polypropylene resin. It does not deteriorate the mechanical properties of the resin product nor cause the blooming problem. n PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the corresponding halogenated triphenol-type compound (e.g., the compound of formula III) with allyl chloride, allyl bromide. methallyl chloride, etc., by conventional method to etherify the starting compound and, as necessary, halogenating the ether compound. As an alternative method, the compound of formula I is produced by reacting a tris-halogenated phenolic compound with a 1-4C halogenated hydrocarbon having ≥2 halogen atoms by conventional method. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
