titleOfInvention Conversion of alkylnaphthalene by microorganism
abstract PURPOSE: To inexpensively provide a hydroxy compound of alkylnaphthalene at ordinary temperature and ordinary pressure in saved energy by aerobically culturing a specific bacterium strain in a culture medium containing the alkylnaphthalene compound. n CONSTITUTION: An alkylnaphthalene compound such as methylnaphthalenes containing one or more 1-6C lower alkyl groups which are substituent groups and used as a substrate raw material is blended with glycerin used as other carbon source, nitrogen source such as (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 , inorganic salts such as various kind of phosphoric acid salts and as necessary surfactant such as polyoxyethylene sorbitane oleate to afford a culture medium for culturing a microorganism. Then Pseudomonas esp. SA-05B bacterium strain (FERM P-9632) screened from a natural field is inoculated into the culture medium and subjected to shaking culture at pH7-8 and 25-35°C for 3-10 day to provide a cultured material containing a hydroxy compound which is an oxidation metabolism product. Then the cultured material is subjected to extraction by a solvent and purification by column chromatography, etc., to recover the hydroxy compound of 1-naphthylmethanol, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
