Acquisition of protective antigen against pertussis infection and toxicity processes |
abstract |
PURPOSE: To obtain an antigenic adenylic acid cyclase(AC) preparation not having the danger of a side effect (e.g. allergic encephalitis) related to pertussigen by using B. parapertussis or its mutant. n CONSTITUTION: This AC preparation is obtained by using B. parapertussis or its mutant (e.g. the hemolytic clone of B. parapertussis capable of inducing acute edematous hemolytic alveolitis). The AC preparation is specifically recognized with specific polyclonal and monoclonal anti-B. pertussis AC, can antigenically cross-react with the B. pertussis AC, is specifically recognized with a polyclonal anti-AC antibody having a mol.wt. of 43±4.3 to 45±4.5KD and enhanced to active AC, lacks an activity capable of activating adenylic acid cyclase calmodulin(CaM) and affinity of CaM, and contains an inactive protein having a mol.wt. of 43±4.3KD. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
