titleOfInvention | Production of cyclic poly(siloxane) |
abstract | PURPOSE: To safely and simply obtain the subject polymer in good yield without generating the danger of explosion by bringing a straight chain poly(organosiloxane) consisting of a diorganosiloxy unit and an organohydrogensiloxy unit into contact with a fixed catalyst bed. n CONSTITUTION: A straight chain poly(organosiloxane) constituted of 3-20 chemically bonded organosiloxane units each selected from a diorganosiloxy unit and/or an organohydrogensiloxy unit is brought into contact with a fixed catalyst bed in a gradually increased manner at 200-800°C under pressure of 760-0.01 torr in an oxygen-free atmosphere to form a volatile objective polymer which is, in turn, condensed to be recovered. The straight chain poly(organosiloxane) being a raw material is pref. obtained by hydrolyzing an organohalosilane such as dimethyldichlorosilane. As the fixed bed catalyst, for example, there is an acid treated bentonite clay. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
