titleOfInvention Thermal transfer ink medium
abstract PURPOSE: To provide dot reproduction properties and a linear gradation property from low to high densities by using a thermoplastic organic substance and some additives as constituents of an intermediate layer, and providing a rugged structure at the surface of the intermediate layer, in a three-layer structure comprising a thermoplastic ink layer, a support layer and the intermediate layer therebetween. n CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic ink layer 104, a support layer 102 and an intermediate layer 103 therebetween are provided, the intermediate layer 103 comprising a thermoplastic organic substance and some additives and having a rugged structure. With the intermediate layer 103 thus provided, higher adhesion of the ink layer 104 is contrived. The rugged structure at the surface of the intermediate layer 103 can be obtained by adding an additive such as a foaming agent to a composition for forming the layer 103, agitating and applying the composition, thereby forming foams in the resultant coat, and removing the foams by rapid heating. The thermoplastic organic substance in the intermediate layer may be butyral, polyester, polystyrene, polypropylene, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate compolymer, polyurethane or the like. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
