abstract NEW MATERIAL:A cell activating substance derived from Chinese matrimony vine, a water-soluble substance derived from Chinese matrimony vine of solanaceous plant, specified by the following A and B or C and D. (A) Molecular weight : approximately 1,500. (B) 0.64-0.68 Rf value on paper chromatography [TOYO filter paper No50, developing solvent : water-ethanol mixed solvent (1:1)]. (C) Soluble in water and 60% ethanol, slightly soluble in >=80% ethanol and insoluble anhydrous ethanol, n-butanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform, petroleum ether and ether. (B) Positive in Molish reaction and ninhydrin reaction. USE:Useful for tissue culture, drug, quasi-drug, cosmetic, etc. PREPARATION:Chinese matrimony vine of solanaceous plant is immersed in water, concentrated under reduced pressure, the concentrate is mixed with ethanol, centrifuged, a supernatant liquid thereof is collected, blended with ethanol and centrifuged.
