titleOfInvention Gas sensor
abstract PURPOSE: To take out the amount of SF 6 decomposed gas as an electric signal with a compact and light-weighted constitution by providing a detecting electrode, solid electrolyte and a facing electrode. n CONSTITUTION: Since a facing electrode 3 and electrolyte 2 are formed enclosed by an insulator 6 on a substrate 7 when SF 6 decomposed gas is generated due to electric discharge into SF 6 gas, a detecting electrode 1 does not make contact with SF 6 gas but makes contact with an SF 6 gas atmosphere, thereby resulting in reaction with the SF 6 decomposed gas causing a part of the electrode 1 to be silver fluoride. At this time, a chemical battery is formed wherein silver fluoride on the electrode 1 is an anode active material, silver in the electrode 3 is a cathode active material and the electrolyte 2 is so-called electrolytic solution. Potential difference therefore occurs between both electrodes according to the amount of generated silver fluoride at this time, and the potential difference is measured by a voltmeter 8 via a voltage detection terminal 5 and a lead 4. This measured voltage permits the amount of the SF 6 decomposed gas to be calculated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
