abstract NEW MATERIAL:An imidazole based compound expressed by formula I (R 1 is halogen, trifluoromethyl, nitro or cyano; R 2 is Cl, Br or I; m is 0-5; n is 0 or 1). n EXAMPLE: 5-Benzyl-4-chloro-1-dimethylsulfamoylimidazole-2-carbothioamide S- oxide. n USE: The compound expressed by formula I is useful as a harmful living thing controlling agent and has high germicidal, insecticidal and acaricidal activity. Especially useful as a germicide for agriculture and horticulture and especially exhibiting excellent controlling effect against late blight of potato or tomato, downy mildew of grape, blue mold of tobacco, soil disease injury by the genus Plasmodiophora, the genus Pythium, etc., and disease injury by Phycomycetes. The compound expressed by formula I has long residual effectiveness. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with an oxidizing agent to provide the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
