abstract PURPOSE: To improve heat resistance and plating characteristics by incorporating a specified liq. crystal polyester and a styrenic resin. n CONSTITUTION: Deacetylation polycondensation of diacylated compd. of an arom. dihydroxy compd. (e.g., p-acetoxybenzoic acid) with an arom. dicarboxylic acid (e.g., terephthalic acid) is performed, if necessary, in the presence of polyethylene terephthalate to obtain a liq. crystal polyester (A) consisting of structural units of formulas I-III (wherein X is one or more groups selected from formulas IV-VIII and carbonyls in formulas II and III are at para- or meta-positions with respect each other and more than 50mol% are at para-positions), having a heat distortion temp. of 190-280°C, a liq. crystallization initiating temp. of 330°C or lower, a melt viscosity of 10,000P or smaller, an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5dl/g or larger and forming an anisotropic molten phase.
