titleOfInvention | Production of substituted acetophenone |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title novel compound easily in high selectively and high yield, by oxidizing 1,1-diphenylethane substituted with electron-attracting groups with molecular oxygen at a specific temperature followed by acid decomposition of the product. n CONSTITUTION: 1,1-Diphenylethane substituted with at least one of electon- attracting groups of formula I (R 1 , R 2 are the same electron-attracting groups or R 1 has relatively higher electron-attracting force than R 2 has; m, n are 1 to 3) is emulsified using an emulsifier such as sodium stearate, oxidized with molecular oxygen in the presence of a base such as sodium carbonate, preferably in an aqueous medium at 40 to 150°C to form a hydroperoxide of formula II. Then, the product is subjected to acid decomposition in an acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid, preferably in a solvent such as glacial acetic acid at 30 to 150°C in several minutes to several hours to give the objective novel compound of formula III substituted with electron-attracting groups such as 4- chloroacetophenone. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
