titleOfInvention | Production of optically active epihalohydrin |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound by a simple operation in easy recovery and reuse of oxygen, by using an organic solvent suspending an enzyme and carrying out three processes from a racemic modification of a 3-halo-2-acyloxy-1- alkyl (or aryl)sulfonyloxypropane. n CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by formula I (X is halogen; R is aliphatic hydrocarbon; Y is aromatic hydrocarbon or aliphatic hydrocarbon) is subjected to enzymatic alcoholysis in an organic solvent suspending an enzyme such as lipase to give a mixture of an (S)-alcohol shown by formula II and an (R)- ester shown by formula III, then the enzyme is filtered off from the mixture, which is treated with an organic solvent-alkali aqueous solution two layer system to give an (S)-epihalohydrin shown by formula IV, further the compound shown by formula IV is distilled away from the organic layer and a compound shown by formula III contained in the residue is treated with an alkali to give an (R)-epihalohydrin shown by formula V. This compound is useful as a synthetic intermediate for optically active substances having physiological activity. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
