PURPOSE: To obtain a remedy for neuropathy, containing a physiologically active substance extracted from an infected animal tissue (hereinafter referred to as infected tissue) inflamed by inoculating various viruses into an animal or cultured tissue as an active ingredient with low toxicity without side effects. n CONSTITUTION: A remedy for neuropathy, obtained by grinding an infected tissue, adding an extracting solvent, filtering or centrifuging the mixture to remove tissual pieces, then deproteinizing the filtrate, adjusting the pH of the resultant extract solution containing active ingredients to pH3.5-5.5 with an acid, adsorbing the adjusted extract solution on an adsorbent, such as active carbon or kaolin, subsequently adding an eluting solvent, such as water or methanol, eluting the adsorbed ingredients, adjusting the pH to about a neutral value, evaporating the adjusted eluate to dryness under reduced pressure or freeze-drying the eluate to afford the objective physiologically active substance, directly using or blending the substance with other pharmaceutically active ingredients, preparing a pharmaceutical by a conventional method and having promoting action on nervous growth.
