titleOfInvention Production of calcium carbonate
abstract PURPOSE: To improve the dispersibility of the subject compound by introducing CO 2 into lime milk under specific condition, adding condensed phosphoric acid (alkali metal salt) to the milk and carbonating the lime. n CONSTITUTION: (A) Lime milk having a Ca(OH) 2 concentration of 3-25g/100ml is produced by mixing (a) quick lime or slaked lime with (b) water. (B) CO 2 is introduced into the component A maintained at ≤25°C, preferably 10-17°C until ≥5wt.% of Ca(OH) 2 in the component A is carbonated while preventing the lowering of the pH of the component A to a level lower than the pH level before the introduction of the component B by essentially ≥0.2. The carbonation reaction is performed at ≤45°C to a carbonation ratio of 60-75%. The reaction product is added with (C) ≥1x10 -4 mol of condensed phosphoric acid (alkali metal salt) (e.g. sodium hexametaphosphate) based on 1mol of Ca(OH) 2 in the component A and carbonated to a carbonation ratio of 100% at ≥10°C to obtain CaCO 3 powder having an average particle diameter of ≥1μm and an aspect ratio of ≤3. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
