titleOfInvention | Production of alpha-aminoacetonitriles |
abstract | PURPOSE: To easily obtain the subject compound useful as a fungicide, herbicide, etc., without causing the problems of solvent removal, etc., by reacting cyanhydrins derived from aldehydes and hydrogen cyanide directly with ammonia in acetonitrile without using specific reaction reagent. n CONSTITUTION: A cyanhydrin compound of formula II is produced by reacting an aldehyde of formula I (R and R 1 are H, halogen or 1-4C lower alkyl; X is O or S) with halogen cyanide without using a solvent or in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as triethylamine at 0-20°C. The obtained compound of formula II is made to react with ammonia in acetonitrile at 20-80°C, preferably 40-60°C to obtain the objective compound of formula III. The amount of acetonitrile is 0.1-2 liter, preferably 0.25-1.2 liter per 1mol of the cyanhydrin compound and that of ammonia is 1-20mol, especially 1-10mol. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
