abstract NEW MATERIAL:Rhodococcus espi M-750 (FERM P-9946) having end type glycolipid-decomposing enzyme-producing ability in the absence of glycolipid. USE:Useful in determination of structure of virus receptor of cell surface layer, specific cancer antigen, etc. PREPARATION:Phodococcus espi G-74 (FERM P-8424) collected from a soil in MACHIDA city, TOKYO prefecture is cultured and then collected. Then the bacterium is suspended in an aqueous solution of common salt subjected to sterilization treatment and is subjected to variation treatment by ultraviolet irradiation. Further, the bacterium is cultured in an equine blood agar medium to select and collect a variant strain forming no transparent ring and then the cultured variant strain is subjected to variant treatment with a nitroguanidine-containing acetic acid buffer solution.
