abstract NEW MATERIAL:A benzotriazole derivative expressed by formula I [R 1 is 1-5C alkylene; R 2 and R 3 are mutually same or different and represent H, 1-5C alkyl, 1-5C alkyloxy, amino, mono- or di- 1-5C alkylamino (excluding when they are not simultaneously H) or together form 1-5C alkylenedioxy; R 4 is H or 1-5C alkyl) or salt thereof. n EXAMPLE: 2-(p-Aminomethylphenyl)-N,N-dimethyl-2H-benzotriazolyl-5--amine. n USE: A reagent for analysis of carboxylic acids capable of reacting with carboxylic acids in mild conditions and rapidly measuring in high sensitivity. n PREPARATION: For example, a substituted aniline expressed by formula II is subjected to well-known diazo coupling reaction with a diazo compound having aminoalkul group protected with a proper protecting group expressed by formula III, oxidative ring-closure reaction and successively deprotecting to provide the compound expressed by formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
