abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a compsn. which comprises silyl 2-amidoacetate, silyl 3- amidopropionate, and a cyclic amidine, is a reaction product of an azlactone and a silanol, and is used for protective coating to give glass fibers with a high photoconductivity. n CONSTITUTION: An azlactone (e.g. 2vinyl-4,4'dimethylazlactone) and a silanol (e.g. t-butyldimethylsilanol) are mixed, kept standstill at room temp., and reacted to give the objective compsn. which contains at least one silyl 2-amidoacetate and silyl 3-amidopropionate represented by the formula (wherein R 1 to R 3 are each an alkyl, aryl, hydroxyl, or silyloxy; R 4 and R 5 are each H or a lower alkyl; n is 0 or 1; R 6 and R 7 are each an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, etc.; G is a polyvalent group; and m is 1-p provided p is an integer of 1 or higher) and, in some case, a catalytic amt. of a cyclic amidine. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
