titleOfInvention Polycyanoaryl ether and its production
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polycyanoaryl ether having a high glass transition temperature and a high initial heat decomposition temperature and improved in heat resistance, moldability, etc., by reacting a specified dihalobenzonitrile with 2,2-bis(3-phenyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane. n CONSTITUTION: 2,2-Bis(3-phenyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane (A) is polycondensed with 0.98W1.02mol, per mol of component A, of a dihalobenzonitrile (B) of formula I (wherein X is a halogen atom), e.g., 2,6-difluorobenzonitrile, by heating in the presence of an alkali metal (C) (e.g., K 2 CO 3 ) in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g., N-methylpyrrolidone) to obtain a polycyanoaryl ether having repeating units of formula II and a reduced viscosity (in p-chlorophenol solution in a concentration of 0.2g/dl at 60°C) ≥0.2dl/g. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
