titleOfInvention | Novel optically active ester compound and preparation thereof |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formulas I and II (R is ≤20C alkoxy; n is 1 or 2; X is H or halogen; asterisk is asymmetric carbon atom). n EXAMPLE: Optically active 4-n-decyloxybenzoic acid-4'-[2-(4-methyl-3- cyclohexenyl-1)propoxycabonyl]phenyl ester. n USE: Ferromagnetic liquid crystal materials. The compounds have high response speeds and are chemically stable. n PREPARATION: 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid compound is reacted with (R,R)-2-(4- methyl-3-cyclohexenyl-1)propanol in the presence of a condensing agent such as N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide in a solvent at room temperature to prepare a compound of formula II, which is reacted with a compound of formula III in the presence of the same condensing agent at the above-mentioned agent in a solvent such as toluene at room temperature to provide the compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
