titleOfInvention | Production of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound expected to be useful as a substitute for trifluoromethane at a low cost by reacting 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane with hyrogen chloride and oxygen in the presence of a metal salt as a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The subject compound useful as a substitute for trifluoromeethane because of the nature free from destruction problem of the ozone in stratosphere can be produced on an industrial scale at a low cost, by reacting 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane with hydrogen chloride and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a metal salt, preferably NiCl 2 , CuCl 2 or FeCl 2 and more preferably said metal salt supported on a metal fluoride or a metal oxide, especially supported on aluminum fluoride. The raw material of the present process can be easily produced by fluorinating trichloroethylene with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride in vapor phase or liquid phase. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
