titleOfInvention | Production of leuco compound |
abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain a leuco compound useful as a colorless dye for recording materials of pressure-sensitive paper or heat-sensitive paper by reacting a specific fluoran compound with a carbinol compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be produced by reacting (A) a fluoran compound having an anilino group at 2-site and a substituted amino group at 6-site (e.g. 2-anilino-6-diethylaminofluoran or 2-anilino-3-methyl-6- diethylaminofluoran) with (B) a carbinol compound (preferably substituted benzyl alcohol derivative) preferably in the presence of an acid catalyst in a polar solvent. |
