abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the subject excellent cosmetic effective in eliminating the rough feeling of the skin caused by application, promoting the moistness of the skin and giving durable make-up and absolutely free from allergic reaction, by using kojic acid as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains kojic acid as an active component. Kojic acid is a known substance produced by culturing a microbial strain belonging to genus Aspergillus, Penicillium, Escherichia, Acetobacter or Gluconobacter, active to suppress melanogenesis and having extremely low toxicity. The amount of kojic acid to be compounded to the make-up cosmetic is 0.01-5.0wt.%, preferably 0.1-2.0wt.% based on the whole make-up cosmetic. The cosmetic is compounded with powder and used in the form of powder, pressed powder, etc., such as foundation, etc. The powder to be compounded to the cosmetic is e.g. talc, kaolin, nylon powder, etc.
