titleOfInvention Novel protein bap-2 and protective agent containing the same protein against plant virus disease
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A basic protein BAP-2 having following physico-chemical properties obtained by extracting tissues of a plant belonging to Bougainvillea genus using a water-based solvent and purifying the resultant extract; Ultraviolet spectra have a maximum at 280nm wavelength. Ninhydrin reaction is positive and phenolsulfonic acid reaction is negative. Isoelectric point PI=9-10. Molecular weight measured by the polyacrylamide gel containing sodium dodecyl sulfate electrophoresis is 2.98×10 4 . n USE: A protective agent against plant virus diseases. n PREPARATION: For example, leaves of Bougainvillea glabra are milled in a phosphate buffer and the resultant milled solution is separated by centrifugation to recover the supernatant. The obtained supernatant is subsequently saturated with ammonium sulfate and the resultant precipitate is separated. The separated precipitate is dissolved in a phosphate buffer, purified by the ion-exchange chromatography, etc., and analyzed using the SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and a fraction of 2.98×10 4 molecular weight is collected, thus obtaining the objective protein BAP-2. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
