abstract | PURPOSE: To readily obtain a porous membrane for filters, having a great number of uniform fine through holes, by attaching fine droplets of a first liquid to a substrate, coating the substrate with a second liquid having dissolved a membrane material and immiscible with the first liquid and vaporizing the first and the second liquids. n CONSTITUTION: Fine droplets 21 of a first liquid (e.g., water) is attached to a substrate 20, the substrate 20 to which the fine droplets 21 of the first liquid (e.g., solution of carbon tetrachloride) are stuck is coated with a second liquid 22 which has dissolved a membrane material and is immiscible with the first liquid and the fine droplets 21 of the first liquid and the second liquid 22 applied to the substrate 20 are vaporized to give the aimed porous membrane 11.
