titleOfInvention Cylindrical polymer particle and production thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To readily obtain the title particles having a cylindrical anisotropic shape in good reproducibility and in high productivity, by absorbing a monomer of a main polymer in seed polymer particles and polymerizing the monomer. n CONSTITUTION: (A) Particles of a seed polymer (e.g., polystyrene) having preferably 0.2W100μm particle diameter is made into aqueous dispersion and (B) a vinyl monomer (e.g., acrylonitrile) to form a polymer having a SP value different from that of the component A by ≥0.1 is added to the component A and polymerized at ≥the glass transition temperature of the polymer of the component B to give the aimed cylindrical polymer having 0.5W100μm major axis and the minor axis of ≤1/3 the major axis. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
