titleOfInvention Production of highly water-absorbing material
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a highly water-absorbing material useful as a sanitary material, etc., in one step and high efficiency, by spraying a mixture of a monomer, a water-soluble peroxide catalyst, a crosslinking agent and water into a vessel maintained at a specific temperature using a spraying apparatus controlled to a specific condition. n CONSTITUTION: The objective highly water-absorbing material can be produced by spraying a mixture of a monomer [e.g. (meth)acrylic acid or acrylamide], a water-soluble peroxide catalyst (e.g. potassium peroxide or hydrogen peroxide), a crosslinking agent (e.g. N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide) and water into a vessel having the maximum temperature above the initiation temperature of the crosslinking reaction and below the decomposition temperature of the monomer (preferably 150W200°C) with a spraying apparatus controlled to a temperature (preferably 0W60°C) or residence time (preferably ≤3sec) to keep the fluidity of the mixture, thereby carrying out the reaction, pulverization and drying in one step. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
