abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl which may contain 1-20C, halogen; n is 1 or 2; * is asymmetric carbon). n EXAMPLE: (+)-4-(1'-Hexanoyloxyethyl)benzoic acid. n USE: A synthetic intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals. Useful as a synthetic intermediate especially for organic electronic materials, particularly liquid crystal compounds. n PREPARATION: An optically active ester derivative shown by formula II (R' is benzyl which may be replaced with lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen) is catalytically hydrogenated and debenzylated in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. Pd-C) in a solvent such as water or dioxan at -10-100°C to give a compound shown by formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
