abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title polymer useful as precision parts, electrical, electronic parts, parts for automobiles, etc., having excellent fluidity, moldability, modulus of elasticity, impact strength, heat resistance, etc., by copolymerizing dihydroxydiphenylpropane residue. n CONSTITUTION: (A) 1W35mol% 2, 2-(3,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl)propane is blended with (B) 0W35mol% 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl, (C) 0W35mol% hydroquinone, (D) 5W45mol% terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic and (E) 15W90mol% oxycarboxylic acid and, for example, an acid chloride is added to the mixture, which is reacted at 100W400°C to give the aimed aromatic polyester which consists of residues formula I, formula II, formula III, formula IV and formula V (R' is group shown by formula VI) and has ≥30 poises melt viscosity at 320°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
