titleOfInvention Production of 2-nitro-4'-acetaminodiphenyl ether
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as a monomer for producing heat-resistant resins, etc., in high yield and selectivity, by condensing p- acetaminophenol with an o-halogenonitrobenzene in the presence of an alkaline metal salt in a solvent. n CONSTITUTION: p-Acetaminophenol is reacted with an o-halogenonitrobenzene in the presence of an alkaline metal salt (e.g., NaOH, KOH or Na 2 CO 3 ) in a dipolar aprotic solvent (e.g., N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) used in an amount of normally 1W20 times based on the raw material compound to afford the aimed 2-nitro-4'-acetaminodiphenyl ether. The reaction temperature is within the range of normally 100W240°C, preferably 150W180°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
