titleOfInvention Miticidal process
abstract PURPOSE: To exterminate house mites living in carpets, beddings, etc., by contacting the mites with a miticide in an atmosphere having a specific carbon dioxide gas concentration using a closeable fumigation chamber. n CONSTITUTION: Carpets, beddings, etc., are beaten to remove dead mites, etc., and put into a closeable fumigation chamber. CO 2 is introduced into the chamber until the CO 2 concentration reaches ≥20vol.% (preferably ≥30vol.%) to keep the atmosphere in oxygen-deficient state. The atmosphere is maintained at ≤60% humidity and 15W25°C, a miticide (e.g., dichloriphos or permethrin) is introduced into the chamber at a rate of 5W10mg/m 3 and the carpets, etc., are treated for 5W12hr. The mites living in the carpets, beddings, etc., are attracted from the inside to the surface of the carpets, etc., by the mite- attracting property of carbon dioxide gas and, furthermore, the miticide is permeated into the carpets, beddings, etc., by the permeation promoting effect of the carbon dioxide gas to improve the miticidal effect. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
