titleOfInvention Coating resin
abstract PURPOSE:To provide excellent elongation, tensile strength, low temp. flexibility, hardness, adhesiveness, stain resistance, pigment dispersive power, drying properties with a good balance, by polymerizing a polymerizable unsatd. monomer in the presence of a specified compd. having diazo bonds. CONSTITUTION:98-5wt.% one or more polymerizable unsatd. monomer such as (meth)acrylates, arom. vinyl monomers or vinyl esters of fatty acids are polymerized in the presence of 2-95wt.% polymeric azo compd. consisting of a compd. having at least one diazo bonding in the molecule and having a number-average MW of 1,500-40,000 of the formula [wherein R1 is a (CN group-contg.) alkyl; R2 is a polyurethane diol residue contg. terminal hydroxyl groups or a polyester diol residue contg. terminal hydroxyl groups; n is 1-20] at 60-140 deg.C for 6-20hr to obtain a coating resin of a block copolymer having a glass transition temp. of pref. 0-100 deg.C.
