titleOfInvention Composite material of iron and carbon
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a composite material of iron and carbon wherein iron ultrafine particles are uniformly dispersed into a carbon material, suitable as a catalyst, magnetic material, etc., by heat-treating an organoaluminum polymer compound wherein iron is coordinated in a polymer compound capable of coordinating, in an inert atmosphere at a given temperature. n CONSTITUTION: Iron or iron ion is coordinated in a polymer compound (e.g., chloromethylpolystyrene) which contains an atomic group having coordinating ability at a main chain and (or) side chain and is capable of coordinating to produce an organoiron polymer compound. Then the prepared organoiron polymer compound is heat treated in an inert atmosphere (e.g., in nitrogen gas) at 400W2,000°C. Consequently, a composite material of iron and carbon wherein iron ultrafine particles which may be at least partially coated with iron carbide and have ≤5μm particle diameter are uniformly dispersed into a carbon material consisting essentially of carbon can be produced in good reproducibility and stably. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
