abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R 1 WR 8 are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, group of formula II (M is H, alkali metal or ammonium), formula III or formula IV; at least one of R 1 WR 8 is group of formula IIWformula IV]. n EXAMPLE: 6H-dibenzo[b,d]pyran-6-one-3-sulfuric acid ester potassium salt. n USE: A drug. An active component of an aldose reductase inhibitor. Useful as a high-safety remedy for complication of diabetes. n PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by converting a compound of formula V (X 1 WX 8 are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or OH; at least one of X 1 WX 8 is OH) into sulfuric acid ester, phosphoric acid ester or glycolic acid ether or reacting the above esterified or etherified substance with a substance capable of forming alkali metal ion or ammonium ion. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
