| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound in high yield and short reaction time without necessitating the operation for distilling-off of the solvent, facilitating the stirring of the reaction system, by reacting a vinyl monomer having unsaturated tert-amino group with a quaternarizing agent in an aqueous solution in the presence of a specific surfactant. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be produced by reacting (A) a vinyl monomer having unsaturated tert-amino group and expressed by formula (R 1 is H or CH 3 ; R 2 and R 3 are 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C hydroxyalkyl; Y is O or NH; A is 1-4C alkylene or 2-4C hydroxyalkylene) with (B) 1.00-1.50mol of a quaternarizing agent (based on 1mol of the amino group of the monomer A) in the form of an aqueous solution having a concentration of 50-90wt.% in the presence of (C) 0.01-20wt.% (based on the monomer of formula) of a cationic surfactant and/or ampholytic surfactant such as laurylamidopropyl dimethylbetaine and (D) a polymerization inhibitor such as methylhydroquinone at 50-60°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
