titleOfInvention Magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To improve a repetitive traveling property and electromagnetic conversion characteristics by incorporating γ-Al 2 O 3 powder of a specific shape and specific nonmagnetic powder into a magnetic layer and using specific ferromagnetic alloy powder as the ferromagnetic powder. n CONSTITUTION: The acicular γ-Al 2 O 3 powder having 3W50 axial ratio (major axis length/minor axis length) and the nonmagnetic powder having ≤2.5 axial ratio and ≥3 Mohs hardness are incorporated into the magnetic layer and the ferromagnetic alloy powder having ≥60wt.% content of iron and ≥40m 2 /g specific surface area is used as the ferromagnetic powder. The electromagnetic conversion characteristics are insufficient if the axial ratio of the acicular γ-Al 2 O 3 powder is over 50 and if the content of the iron of the ferromagnetic alloy powder is below 60wt.% and the specific surface area is below 40mg 2 /g. The durability is insufficient if the Mohs hardness of the nonmagnetic powder is below 3. The repetitive durability and the electromagnetic conversion characteristics are thereby improved. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
