abstract NEW MATERIAL:A dihydrobenzofuranone derivative expressed by formula I (R 1 is H; R 2 is H, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, pyridylalkyl or -NR 1 R 2 is united to form piperidino, morpholino or 1-piperazinyl which may be substituted at the 4-position. The substituent group is a lower alkyl which may have hydroxy group or lower alkoxycarbonyl). n EXAMPLE: 1-{3-[3-Oxospiro[benzofuran-2(3H)/1'-cyclopropane]-5-y1]acryloyl} piperidine. n USE: Useful as a remedy for gastric and duodenal ulcer, having low toxicity and capable of orally or parenterally administering. n PREPARATION: A carboxylic acid expressed by formula II is reacted with amines expressed by formula III to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
