titleOfInvention Improved cationic polymer
abstract PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject polymer by using, as a part of a nonionic monomer, an azeotropic waste stream which is produced and removed during the ester exchange reaction of a dialkyl amino alcohol and an acrylate as the main process of the production of the cationic monomer. n CONSTITUTION: To obtain the water-soluble cationic copolymer from the nonionic monomer selected between acryl amide and methacryl amide and a cationic monomer (e.g. dimethyl amino ethyl acrylate) of formula I (R is H, CH 3 ; R 1 is a 2-4C alkylene; R 2 to R 4 are each a 1-4C alkyl; X is paired ions), the azetropic waste stream which is produced and removed during the ester exchange reaction between the starting acrylate of formula II (R 5 is a 1-3C alkyl) and the starting dialkyl amino alcohol of formula III used for the manufacture of the cationic monomer is used instead of a part of the nonionic monomer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO
