titleOfInvention Production of porous form
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a porous form with uniform, fine open-cell structure, suitable for removing microorganisms etc., by reaction of a mixed solution comprising an aqueous PVA solution, a crosslinking agent and a catalyst at specified temperatures followed by further reaction by adding both said crosslinking agent and catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: Firstly, an aqueous solution of completely saponified PVA or at least one kind of partially saponified PVA (derivative) (pref. with a mean polymerization degree of 300-2,000) is incorporated with a crosslinking agent (pref. an aldehyde) and a catalyst (pref., an acid). Second, the resultant mixed solution is put to primary reaction at specified temperatures (pref. 40-100°C) followed by adding both said crosslinking agent and catalyst to the system and carrying out secondary reaction at the above-mentioned specified temperatures, thus obtaining the objective porous form. For said mixed solution, the PVA concentration is pref. 10-30wt./vol.%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
