abstract | PURPOSE: To readily obtain the subject compounds useful as a raw material for medicines, other industrial products, etc., in high yield and purity in one pot, by reacting a heterocyclic ring-containing sulfonic acid with triphenylphosphine and iodine. n CONSTITUTION: A heterocyclic ring-containing compound expressed by the formula A.SO 3 R (A is heterocyclic ring having aromaticity; R is H, alkali metal or alkyl) is reacted with triphenylphosphine and iodine to provide heterocyclic ring-containing thiols expressed by the formula A.SH. The reaction is preferably carried out in an organic solvent, such as benzene or toluene, at ambient temperature-in a heated state. If an alkali metal salt of a heterocyclic ring- containing sulfonic acid, etc., is selected as a substrate, a very small amount of water is added after the reaction and the reaction mixture is then heated for a while to quantitatively afford the aimed compounds. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio |
